Software Carpenters, Inc. (SCI) provides web design and development services. We bring together skilled graphic designers and programmers to provide effective solutions for our clients. We have a strong background in web business operation and technology, and apply that expertise into building a professional and impactful website. We understand the marketing aspects of web business, and know how to implement search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to get our clients website’s indexed and found.

Our focus is on website applications that go beyond the standard brochure website and provide interactive functionality and dynamic content. This functionally lets our customers leverage their website to provide online services (B2B, B2C), ecommerce, or intra-company functionality. This means making their website into a contributing operation to their business and for some web based businesses their primary revenue operation.

Our Tools

We build websites with various tools, but primarily with the market leading Adobe & Microsoft development products and technologies. This includes Visual Studio .NET (ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET), SQL Server, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Acrobat (PDF), and Flash. We take pride in knowing these tools and skillfully using them to craft effective and maintainable web applications.

Development Methodology

SCI splits projects into 4 phases: Vision, Design, Build, and Implement. The Vision phase provides Project Vision document that includes an estimated scope of work, cost, and schedule. The Design phase expands the vision into more detail and produces a design document that can be used to develop the website, application, or service. In the Build phase SCI will perform the actual graphic design, programming, database setup & testing of the system. The Implementation phase will involve the setup of the website, application, or system for live operation and maintenance.

We stick with our 4 phased development methodology to keep our focus, time, and costs in check. A builder that builds a house without architectural plans is bound to have cost and schedule overruns. We discipline ourselves to architect a set of design documents in our Design phase to keep us on track in the Build phase.
